Hi all and welcome back! It was on my "to do" list to resume writing again even before all this COVID-19 craziness.
I would never in a million years have believed people to be this asinine about a virus with a 98% recovery rate. Yes, I get some people are more at risk. But people, this is no different that the regular flu--same risk and almost the same symptoms. It isn't spreading faster. We are more aware of it because of media and tests have recently become more available. Stop giving into to fear--the Bible says it is a liar!
I'm all for the special measures being taken to flatten the curve since it seems to make people feel better. But some of you are so ridiculous--you expect things to shut down completely until it "goes away". People, that's NOT going to happen--neither thing. It's not going to go away. We can all do the best we can to "slow it down" but it's not going to just disappear. Viruses don't work like that. And we can't completely shut down. Especially at the same time telling everybody to stop hoarding! Do any of you hear yourself? It would be laughable if it weren't sad. Everything non-essential is closed. The only places people are going are to work and the store. If people want to congregate and each others' homes, there's nothing you can do to stop that. If YOU are "at risk" YOU stay home and stay away from anyone that has to still get out. I'm keeping away from my at risk parents and relatives because I work for the financial industry and I'm REQUIRED to work. We fund businesses, including truckers to bring your toilet paper to the stores. If I stay home, they stay home and you're wiping with tea leaves, if you're even smart enough to know how to do that and not wipe with a lysol wipe like some idiot used on her baby!
That said, I'm actually enjoying this "quarantine" thing. Like I said, I still get to leave the house. The boss has been buying our lunch every day (and some days our breakfast, too) and then we are getting off every day at 3 p.m. I've been so pumped, my productivity is way up. I'm only writing this blog right now because I am at a standstill at work! lol
I'm also getting a lot done around my house thanks to softball season being canceled. I've started my spring cleaning and am in the process of redoing my patio and fire pit area.
I'm also still getting paid from my side hustle--Blue Buffalo--even though we aren't currently working. All I have to do is attend some online professional development training for a few hours a week. I am truly thankful for both my employers.
I do hope this mess is over soon. I'm praying for everyone in need! But remember, fear is a liar. Don't give in. Stay strong!
